The Brenckle Farm

Tom and Marianne Brenckle have a large greenhouse operation and grow vegetables during the summer months specializing in sweet corn. The Brenckle name is well known in the Pittsburgh area as vegetable growers for many generations dating back to the 1800’s. The family farmed in the Troy Hill and North hills area before Tom’s dad bought the present farm in 1949. He has cousins who also grow vegetables in Evans City and market on Troy Hill; also a distant cousin by the same name grows veggies in Ohio. On any given day one could see sons, daughters, sons-in-law, and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and many friends all helping out on the farm.
